Don't Let Your Guard Down

Max takes his naps in our bed, which works great but leaves me somewhat paranoid that he will fall. Not helping my paranoia is our baby monitor, which picks up every noise anywhere in Davis, and has a constant humming, popping, crackling undertone. It is amazing how many things can sound like your baby plummeting off the bed if you are a worried mama. Anyway, I heard a cooing noise coming from the baby monitor, figured that Max must be up, and went in to check on him. Here is what I beheld:

That's right, ladies and gentlemen, Max was sitting up in bed when I went in to check on him. The pillows, meant to be a barrier to his rolling, evidently make fantastic leverage. Using their height, Max pushed/hoisted himself upright. He answered my queries about how he happened to be sitting up with a bewildered expression. I'm not sure he knows how he got up there, either. ( If you look behind Max, by the way, you can see a big, wet sweat-stain on the bed from Max's head. Stupid too hot Davis!)

Max's confusion quickly gave way to delight, however. He is not named after Maurice Sendak's Max in his Wolfsuit for nothing. He swiftly recognized that greater mobility = greater opportunity for mischief-making.

Look at him contemplate the possibilities for mayhem.

so then... it would appear to be crib/video monitor time?

$100 buys a lot of peace of mind (thats a link to the one that was given to us that you saw)

They also make guard rails that you can put on an adult bed so the baby does not crawl, fall out of the bed. jt
