Maybe I'm being paranoid, but it seems like ever since that physical therapist told us not to help Max to stand up, Max's entire life is devoted to standing himself up. He can crawl now, but he disdains crawling. He can sit on laps, but he disdains laps. All his free time is spent grabbing the edges of chairs, couches, coffee tables, his parents' body parts, and hoisting himself to a standing position. Once there, he gets so excited that he does a little happy foot dance, resulting, of course, in a loss of balance and subsequent demotion back to a sitting position. Gravity, Max will defeat you in battle and laugh over your grave!

The instinct to stand is probably one of the most fascinating things about us humans... I mean if you think about it... right now crawling is Max's best bet for getting from one place to another. It involves no falling, it clearly works well... yet babies insist on using only the 2 legs for mobility as soon as possible.
You can do it Max!
Max will overcome gravity with practice, practice, practice. It may even be the milestone that is witnessed firsthand by the Canadian relatives. Just remember Max, push don't pull and it will be considered legal standing.
Max's joyful, yet premature dances of joy brought an image to mind. Has he done the whole 'Gollum teetering on the edge' dance? Just be sure to keep him away from any Rings of Power. No good can come from him getting his little fingers on one of those.
do plastic teething rings count? i think one of max's has an inscription that only drool reveals.
