Guilt Trippin'
Ian works a lot of hours, which I am very grateful for, since it makes it possible for me to be a full-time mama. Ian going to work in the morning has been the pattern of the day for most of the days that Max has been alive, and while Max has occasionally objected to me leaving his side, he has never seemed troubled by Ian going off to work or leaving the room. However, his recent increase in mobility seems to have increased Ian's desirability. Dads, at least in our house, apparently make better wrestlers. Plus, they are more likely to have the remote, and to share it. The last three mornings in a row, Max has cried when he saw Ian getting ready for work. Ian had to come back and kiss Max goodbye again this morning, and Max still cried when he finally left. I remember when parents at my preschool would say goodbye more than once, and I would secretly get a bit impatient with them for prolonging the parting, and ultimately making it harder. When I have to take Max to school, I am so going to be the most annoyingly clingy parent the universe has ever known. I hereby officially apologize to all those parents, for all those times that I didn't fully understand your suffering. I also hereby officially apologize to all Max's future teachers, for saying goodbye more than once, and for all the other annoying things I am sure to do.

Although we all must agree that Ian is a fantastic daddy...are you sure Max is not using his charm to gain access to the x-box?
