This Is The Life!

Max and I have been spending a lot of time outside on our little patio. The laundry room is out there (well, laundry closet, but a closet is like a little room, and if you're going to get that hung up on syntax, you need more vibrant levels of activity in your life), and I have been feeding Max's newfound love of water by giving him buckets of it to splash in while I do laundry. Sure, when I was sixteen, a squealing wet baby and five uninterrupted minutes to do laundry may not have sounded like the ingredients of paradise, but it turns out that they are. Plus, look how nicely maintained the lawn is. Not a fox tail or a trash pile to be seen.

I can't belive how happy I am in this apartment... that last place really did kinda suck... no other way to say it I guess.

It's the simple pleasures, isn't it? Chelsa, I could sense in your post a certain regret that you had to leave the foxtails behind. Don't worry, they will find you.

I hope you are mistaken about the foxtails. Their place has been taken in my heart by the small lizards and snakes that sometimes wander over from the field next door.

It's funny how we only like nature in our living spaces when we can bend it to our will.

I actually am not a big fan of snakes and lizards in my living space, bent to my will or not. Even the most malleable snake is not welcome inside my house, and I am happy to return the favor by not slithering into his snake hole.

Chelsa, you crack me up. I would pay big money to watch you slither into a snake hole.

I've debated with people who say that we shouldn't kill maneating sharks, since it is us who are entering their environment (ala Mike's comment). My retort has always been that sharks are free to slap on whatever gear they need to walk around on dry land, and I am free to fight them if they do so.
